Bible is Fact

When studying about the soul, we realize our true home; the kingdom of heaven. Understanding that God prepared a place with no death, mourning, crying, or pain (Rev 21:4) for us, we are filled with gratitude. Then, how does God lead us to our heavenly home? It is through the Bible.

The Bible is like a GPS that directs us to heaven. Unfortunately, many people do not believe in the Bible. They say, “The Bible is such an old book written thousands of years ago. How can I believe in these fictional stories?” However, God understands the mind of unbelievers and provides evidence through science and prophecy to prove the Bible is fact.

Science Proves the Bible is Fact

The first piece of evidence is seen through science. Scientific facts are considered valid only after scientists conduct extensive research and tests to prove their theory as true. However, laws of nature always exist even before humankind had considered them as factual. Why is that? Because there is a creator God who made the earth and its natural laws. Therefore, it is natural that the Bible, written by creator God, has scientific evidence written prior to human discovery. Let’s see one example in the book of Job.

Job 26:7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
he suspends the earth over nothing.

Here, Job writes that God suspends the earth over nothing. To those of us reading this verse in this day and age, these words are not confusing as we commonly learn about this scientific fact in school. Even as children, we are taught this and call it “The Law of Gravity,” proven through the research conducted by Isaac Newton in 1687. However, when did Job write about the law of gravity? If it was written after the discovery of gravity, it is meaningless to us. Nevertheless, if it was written before the discovery of gravity, then we can see the Bible is certainly a book that fulfills prophecy from the Creator God. Indeed, we can confirm the validity of the Bible as the book of Job was written 3,500 years ago.

Only God Can Know the Future Before It Happens

The second piece of evidence can be seen through prophecy. It is impossible for man to know the future, but nothing is too difficult for God who knows the beginning and end.

Isa. 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’

God knows all things, and He reveals the future through prophecies. We can see that everything has been fulfilled as recorded in the Bible. Let’s see one example through King Cyrus of Persia.

Ezr. 1:1-3 … the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation… ‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Any of his people among you may go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the Lord, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem, and may their God be with them.’

In the time of the Old Testament, Israel was taken captive by Babylon for 70 years. Then, Cyrus, King of Persia destroyed Babylon and freed the Israelites. However, why would Cyrus free a random group of people instead of making them his slaves? Also, why would he praise a God of a foreign land he had never known up to that point? Not only that, but go as far as building a temple for that God? It was because upon capturing Babylon, King Cyrus came across the scroll of Isaiah that contained prophesies about him which were written before he was born.

Isa. 45:1-3 This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: I will go before you and will level the mountains… I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord,  the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

The verses above were written about 170 years before King Cyrus freed the Israelites from Babylon. Upon seeing the scroll of Isaiah, Cyrus was amazed the prophecy was fulfilled exactly as written and came to regard the Bible as fact. That is why he changed his actions in accordance with the words given to him by God.

Isa. 45:13 I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the Lord Almighty.

Cyrus took the words of God to heart and followed them, regarding them as fact. Imagine how you would feel if you saw a book written hundreds of years ago containing your entire life accomplishments. Wouldn’t you be amazed and regard that book as valid? In the same way, we must take the Bible as fact as it is a book containing great evidence from God.

The Bible Is Given to Lead Us to Heaven

Furthermore, why would God give the Bible to humankind? It is because God wants us to return to our home, the kingdom of heaven.

Rev. 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

This is the place God wants to lead us to. Heaven is the perfect place, where our souls long to return to. That is why we must believe in the Bible as a book of fact. Once we believe in the Bible, we can be led to heaven. Just as King Cyrus took the words of God to heart and followed the requests from God, let us study the prophecies, regarding the words of God as fact.
