Welcome to the Family 2022

Heavenly Family

By participating in the ceremony of the Passover, we become one in Christ’s flesh and blood and are recognized as God’s sons and daughters. As we are God’s children, we all learn to love and care for one another as a spiritual, heavenly family. However, we cannot learn to love each other until we get to know one another. This is why the “Welcome to the Family” event was held at the World Mission Society Church of God to introduce new family members and help them feel welcome.

As baptism is a symbol of being reborn in God, those who were recently baptized within the year of 2023 were presented gifts as a welcome and introduced to everyone. Through this, more members were able to get to know each other, and feel more comfortable as they could skip the introduction towards each individual person. After the welcome, the members watched a seminar presentation of a member expressing why they love the Church of God.

Through the presentation, the members could see the good deeds and gracious example of the members of the Church of God, allowing them to receive more background of the church and gain a sense of community.

Building a Bond

Afterwards, the members were able to play games together to build a closer bond and get to know each other all the more. This way, the new members could break out of their shell and have a good time with the members they might have been unfamiliar with at first.

Through the event, the new members expressed how they were grateful to come and meet more people that they were nervous to approach before. They realized how welcoming and loving each person of the Church of God is, and felt all the more eager to come. By feeling the love of God through the members, as well as genuineness and compassion, it was different than the other churches they went to before.

The event concluded with a family appreciation dinner for each of the new members. By sharing a meal with one another, the sense of true family could be felt, with the feeling of comfort and familiarity.
