Throughout the Old Testament scriptures, God the Father was prophesied to be born as a child to bring salvation.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” ISAIAH 9:6
Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of God coming in the flesh 2,000 years ago. Those who recognized and received Jesus as the savior received eternal life. Without knowing the prophecies, the people rejected Him and could not receive salvation. Understanding the savior is essential for our faith.
Since the time of Adam, sin entered the world and all mankind was destined to die. In order to save sinners and grant them eternal life, Christ came to open the way to the forgiveness of sins. At the last supper, Jesus directed His disciples to keep the Passover of the New Covenant, saying, "this is my blood...for the forgiveness of sins."
Although there were many prophets who led God's people, only God could forgive sins. Therefore, Jesus is God and the Savior.
“Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone ...And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."
EPHESIANS 2:20-22
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” MATTHEW 28:19-20
After Jesus' death on the cross, the disciples obeyed God’s last commission to preach the gospel to all people. They learned from the example of Jesus and practiced the laws and commands of the new covenant. As Christianity continued to spread, it was heavily persecuted by other religions and governments. The more it was persecuted, the more the gospel spread. As long as the early church kept the gospel, Christ was with them and allowed them to be prosperous.
However, by the 3rd and 4th century, the influence of other religions caused Christianity to be divided. In the East, the churches centered around Jerusalem continued to follow the same practices of the early church. In the West, centered in Rome, the churches accepted the customs of other pagan religions.
Conflicts between the East and West intensified until the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. This marked a change in Christianity forever since the practices of the western churches were accepted. As a result, all churches that didn't follow were excommunicated. Millions of Christians who kept early church teachings were put to death. The remaining Christians had to keep their faith in secret. Inevitably, the light of truth was lost and the Dark Ages began.
Fifteen centuries later, reformers attempted to restore the original early church teachings. Although there were many religious leaders, they could only partially restore the truth. Without keeping the teachings God taught in the time of the early church, can we receive salvation? And who can come as the perfect reformer?
Learn MoreAs God's commands were changed, no one was keeping the true teachings of Christ. Therefore, in order to bring salvation, Christ is to come a second time (He 9:28). Only God can fully re-establish His true commands. The way we can recognize Christ who comes a second time is through His teachings and whether or not they align with the commands Jesus kept in the time of the early church.
Just as Jesus fulfilled the prophesies about Himself in His time, 2nd coming Christ reveals Himself through fulfilling the prophecies in the last days.
When Jesus was born 2,000 years ago it was not by coincidence. Where He was born, when He was born, where He would preach, what He would do, how He would die, was all according to the scriptures.
It is the same for His second coming. There must be a place He will be born, a time He will come, and a sign to recognize Him. In fact, there are more prophecies about 2nd Coming Christ than there are of His 1st Coming. Those who knew the prophecies and believed their fulfillment were able to recognize God in the flesh and receive salvation.
By studying the Bible, the identity of the Savior in this last age is revealed.
"I'm telling you now before it happens so you can believe I am He." (verse)
The only one who fulfills the prophecies of the Bible
